In their surrender to the Pleasure of The Text, these works on paper engage with iconographies of influence.
Finding it hard to focus, Foster rearranges her books. Perpetually changing, these piles of books around her interact; titles swap fonts, authors write each others books. Texts and images disintegrate, reassembled by her own twisted associations.
In conversation with icons holding complex roles in her life; as source material, puppeteers, lovers, dads, friends, hot professors, Foster reflects on the nostalgia economy of cultural consumption.
A vehicle of association, Foster employs a blind-painting method of appropriating and re-presenting. Focusing on ways of engaging with content, rather than the content itself, the images become points of brief reclamation, before their inevitable return to the chaos of cultural references.
Touching on the material that deludes time, Foster plays the perpetual association game.
